25 percent of India’s coriander production from only one district of MP

Coriander has an important place in our kitchen and coriander is considered very important for both taste and health in the vegetable. But you know that there are mainly 3 districts in the country where coriander is produced the most. Yes, Guna district of Madhya Pradesh occupies the first place in these three districts, which produces 25 percent coriander of the country’s coriander production. Now state government Coriander production is being promoted in Guna district under one district one product. Guna district produces 32,000 MT of coriander per year.

It has been revealed that coriander is predominantly produced in 3 districts across the country. Among them, Guna I, Ramganj Mandi Rajasthan II and Gondal Gujarat are ranked third. Two types of coriander are produced in the major coriander producing region of Guna district, Kumbhraj, Bamori, Chanchauda,​​Madhusudangarh, Chota coriander and thick coriander. The small coriander of Guna district is aromatic. It is in great demand in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Delhi.

Fat coriander is mainly used in making coriander lentils (mukhwas). Four units in Guna district form Dhaniyadal. Their capacity is about 1200 MT per annum. Coriander is exported to Gujarat and Maharashtra. There are about 100 small units of coriander cleaning and coriander powder in the district. In which about 12 crores, through permanent capital appropriation, about 1500 persons have got direct and indirect employment. These units are processing about 10 thousand MT of coriander. One of these units is M / s PC Kannan & Co which is established in Spices Park, Village Mavan Tehsil Guna.

5 coriander processing units in Guna district have started production in the year 2020-2021. Of which a capital appropriation of 156 5 lakhs has been done. Out of which about 125 persons will get direct and indirect employment. By branding and sorting coriander and coriander products in Guna district, the benefit of entrepreneurs and farmers of Guna district is being provided.

1500 people getting employment

District Employment Officer BS Meena said that 100 units of coriander processing and coriander powder manufacturing are also working in the district under one district one product scheme. Of these, there is a capital appropriation of 12 crores. About 1500 people are getting direct or indirect employment from these units.
